79 Acres. One Vision.

A group of local businessmen and golf enthusiasts purchased 79 acres of rolling farmland from George and Nora Newton with a shared goal: to create a first-class golf course for the Geneseo community. Construction began almost immediately, laying the foundation for nearly a century of golf.

The First Round

The original 9-hole Geneseo Country Club officially opened in the summer of 1927. Designed by renowned golf architect Seymour Dunn, the course combined natural terrain, mature trees, and scenic ravines into a layout that quickly became one of the region's finest.

Fun Fact: The entire course was built for approximately $19,000.

Becoming Livingston Country Club

The Great Depression brought difficult times, forcing the club into foreclosure. In 1934, a newly formed membership corporation purchased the property, officially establishing Livingston Country Club and beginning decades of member-driven leadership.

A Club Owned by Its Community

Ownership transitioned to approximately 60 dedicated members who invested in the club's future. Their commitment preserved Livingston Country Club through changing times and created the welcoming community that continues today.

Growing Beyond the Fairways

A major clubhouse expansion gave members and guests more space to gather while opening the club to the public for golf, dining, and social events. It marked the beginning of a new era of growth.

The Vision for 18 Holes

As golf continued to grow in popularity, club leadership approved plans to transform Livingston Country Club from a traditional 9-hole course into a full 18-hole golf destination.

Expanding the Landscape

The purchase of an additional 52.5 acres made the expansion possible. The new property extended the course westward and preserved the wooded landscape that remains one of the course's defining features.

Eighteen Holes Complete

After years of planning, engineering, and construction, the new nine holes officially opened. The original and newly built holes were carefully blended together, creating the challenging 18-hole course enjoyed today.

Preserving Tradition. Improving the Experience.

Extensive clubhouse renovations modernized dining spaces, the kitchen, tavern, entrances, restrooms, and outdoor gathering areas while maintaining the welcoming atmosphere members have always valued.
